Why Dishonored 2 owned 2016

WARNING-  SPOILERS AHEAD.

2016 was an average year for gaming.(I rarely play multiplayer games).
There were few strong titles such as Dark souls 3 and Uncharted 4 but that was that.Until Arkane studios announced  Dishonored 2.
Of all the games I played this year,Dishonored 2 stands out as not just the best game of 2016 but also a perfect example of how a sequel should evolve in the course of time.
I haven't been paid by the  developers to praise the game or its characters and those who haven't yet played the game wouldn't believe me when I say that I absolutely ADORE Empress Emily Kaldwin.
Arkane Studios have done a perfect job in portraying the character of Emily. Her past and her back stories often found in notes or audiographs throughout the game explains why she is and what she is..She ain't a good ruler nor she wants to till everything goes down makes her a really interesting character, one I personally think Royal Protector  Corvo Attano   was not in the first game.
The voice acting is top class thanks to Erica Luttrell who adds an extra layer of  emotion to Emily's character which even without it was perfect on its own.The way Emily's story unfolds and how she develops during the course of her journey is something rarely seen in videogames nowdays especially the one whose main focus is its gameplay.
Indeed in this aspect,Dishonored 2 utterly shines and there is no beating it in its strongest aspect.
Starting from the game's new setting,Karnaca-The jewel of the south has a rich vibrant flavour to it.
The city streets are densely populated with guards and other locals doing their day to day activity
and even though they are just normal npc's,the amount of detail Arkane has put in every conversation they have with you or themselves is simply something to gawk at.
I was surprised how realistic and fluid it felt.
Karnaca is gorgeous to look at.The detail in every environment is simply marvellous and the incredible sound design just matches its pace.
Coming to the powers,Emily has lots of them and they all are unique and great to use.
I have had some really intersting situations where I combined one power with the another  and let the magic happend.
The fact that the gameplay mixes with the plot in a perfect way is something to notice.
Every decision or choices you made in the previous missions are reflected in one way or another in the next one creating a sense of connection which I personally think was absent in the original Dishonored.
And trust me when I say, there are some difficult moral choices to make regarding assasinations. Not gonna spoil though,I nearly had to scratch my head at times and think whether I was doing the right thing or not.
And oh did I mention the level designs? They are truely breathtaking.
Every mission is so detailed and varied.Different surroundings, different enemies, different tactis.Well it all adds up to the charm.

When combined with immersive gameplay, rich setting, amazing soundtrack and strong cast of characters,Dishonored 2 is a masterpiece and the one which should not be missed.
And yes you can play as Corvo attano as well with totally different set of powers and cutscenes but that I'll leave up to you.
For now those talented people at Arkane studios are hard at work  on Prey, their next title which surely is my most anticipated game for 2017 .What about yours? Tell me in the comments below. And do subscribe to our newsletter if you like this article. Many more to come.
